Ikeda’s in Auburn blends several roles under one roof—part grocery store, part bakery, and part casual market-style restaurant—making it a convenient stop for locals and travelers looking to pick up hearty comfort food, fresh-baked goods, or pantry staples. Situated on Lincoln Way, this spot fits naturally into the rhythm of a town where a mix of daily errands and relaxed weekend visits go hand in hand.

People tend to drop in here with a clear purpose: grabbing a savory pot pie for a quick dinner, stocking up on fresh fruit butters, or treating themselves to one of the many pie varieties that seem to define Ikeda’s bakery reputation. The pies, especially the razzleberry and apple, stand out not just for their traditional flavors but also how they manage to feel both homemade and special enough to bring back as gifts or travel snacks. It’s the sort of place where you see families and visitors alike loading up boxes as they prepare for holiday gatherings or road trips.

The casual atmosphere has a down-to-earth vibe—you won’t find fancy seating here, but the line of customers waiting patiently for burgers, root beer floats, or tamales suggests that the food hits the right notes for genuine comfort. The root beer float, in particular, carries a nostalgic charm that locals seem to appreciate as a simple treat to break up their day.

Expect slightly higher prices, reflecting the quality and portion sizes, especially on entrée items like the big burgers and pot pies. Customer service also gets consistent thumbs up, often adding a personable touch that makes each visit feel less transactional and more like stopping by a longtime neighborhood standby.

For anyone passing through Auburn, especially during holiday weekends or when craving homemade-style bakery and hearty meals, Ikeda’s offers a slice of local flavor and practicality. It’s best visited when you have a little extra time to browse the bakery and grocery sections, perhaps in the late morning or early afternoon before the day’s freshest pies start to run low. Whether a family meal, a sweet treat, or a last-minute grocery stop, Ikeda’s serves up a slice of everyday life in this Sierra Foothills community.

A “happy times super-store.” We’re from a small Colorado mountain town and were visiting family in the area for T-giving. We were searching for an apple pie, and omg they offered so many kinds of fresh baked pies! We also got multiple pot pies for the T-giving eve dinner, and they were a big hit. Super meaty. Ikeda’s was also our last stop before heading home, and we stocked up on fruit butters, sourdough breads, etc. You Auburn people are lucky to have Ikeda’s… we have nothing like it back home.

Ikeda’s never disappoints! The root beer float is nostalgic perfection — creamy, fizzy, and absolutely worth the stop. Their hamburgers are always fresh and flavorful, and the open fruit -bakery market is such a fun bonus with so many seasonal goodies to explore. Don’t leave without grabbing the chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (they’re addictive!) and the tamales — they’re always a family favorite. A must-stop spot every time I pass through!

What's not to love about this place! They have delicious BIG burgers, chicken pot pies, pie slices ($8.00) and many other goodies. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. Their customer service is outstanding. We were waiting for our food and they didn't have any more key lime pie slice out. One of the workers came out and ask the gentleman if he would like a slice, then, he got a whole pie and took out a slice for him. This person where was most grateful. All the fashion customer service cannot be beat.

If you’re driving through Auburn and don’t stop at Ikeda’s for their razzleberry pie, turn your car around and fix your life. We picked up a pie on our way from California to Utah, thinking it would be a nice treat for the family. What actually happened: my 80-year-old father-in-law went full pie pirate and ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. No shame. No remorse. Just fork-to-face action like it was his job. By the time the rest of us realized what was happening, all that was left was a single sliver — and I’m pretty sure he licked that too. Was it worth the family pie feud? 1000%. Tart, sweet, flaky, and possibly addictive. We’re still talking about it and might stage an intervention next time. Or just buy six pies. Bottom line: Ikeda’s razzleberry pie is a must. Just don’t let Grandpa near it unsupervised.

Ikeda’s – 5/5 Stars Ikeda’s is a hidden gem that combines the best of a specialty grocery store and a roadside diner, and it’s worth every bit of the hype. Whether you’re stopping at the Davis or Auburn location, you’re in for something special. Let’s start with the pies—specifically, the Razzleberry Pie. It’s always fresh, bursting with flavor, and easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Pair that with one of their huge, made-to-order burgers, and you’ve got a meal worth the drive. My go-to is the Ortega and Avocado Burger with onion rings and bacon—it’s packed with flavor and cooked perfectly every time. The Auburn location is the heart of the operation. It’s where the magic happens—tamales, pies, cobblers, all made fresh daily. Plus, it has a burger shop attached, offering hot food you can enjoy while browsing their incredible selection of goods. The Davis location is a bit more focused on fresh produce, with a larger selection of fruits and vegetables, but it still delivers the same high-quality tamales and baked goods delivered daily from Auburn. What sets Ikeda’s apart is the unique assortment of items you won’t find at big commercial grocery stores. Their shelves are stocked with specialty hot sauces, marinades, dried fruit, wine, and top-notch meats. Everything feels curated and personal, with an emphasis on supporting small, privately owned businesses. It’s always bustling, and parking can be a little tricky, but trust me—it’s worth it. Whether you’re picking up fresh produce, browsing the shelves for a new favorite hot sauce, or indulging in one of their unbeatable pies or tamales, Ikeda’s is a must-visit.

I have one more place I must stop on my way to Reno or the Sierra after I visit Ikeda’s Market. I love this place! It is a store and restaurant where I can get all the yummy stuff and have my lunch at the same time at one stop when I’m going on my camping trips. The market has almost everything I want plus the delicious pies I can eat there and bring a couple more to my camping. I know my friends will love me when they taste the pies. The customer service at Ikeda’s Market is excellent and fast. I like the huge selection of salsas available with the sample. I can make my decision based on my preferences. Good jobs! Ikeda’s.
